The advance of science and technology calls the company for developing the existing employees into the more skilled and trained employees in performing their work. The company, therefore, takes initiative to organize a training program for employees because this training increases their self-confidence, their satisfaction and self-respect, and their capability to improve the work productivity of employees.
Focus of research is how is the role of training method to improve employee skill at UMKM Batik Bojonegoro which is belonged to the owner “Marely Jaya” at Sumberejo Bojonegoro.
Research approach is qualitative research using a case study research. A case study is a research conducted with intensive, detail and deep fashions on one organization, which is Batik Jenogoroan Industry with brand name “Marely Jaya” at Sumberejo Bojonegoro. Data are collected through observation, documentation and interview techniques.
Based on the result of research through data collection stages and the findings of the paper, it is then concluded that two training methods are used by UMKM Marely Jaya Bojonegoro, which are On the Job Training and Off the Job Training. There are factors supporting and constraining the improvement of employee skill at UMKM Marely Jaya Bojonegoro. The supporting factors is easy recruitment for employee, good management, low production cost, the fostering from immediate government, and wide marketing scope, while the constraining factors are low human resource, moral issue, low income for new employee, and limited production equipment.
